For our customer, PDV GmbH, we have been working for some time on the realization of a learning management system for the implementation of digital software training.
In the process, the currently most exciting open source project in the field of e-learning authoring tools, H5P, was adapted for use in TYPO3 with a steadily growing user community. While sophisticated Open Source software products have been available in the field of learning platforms for a long time, rudimentary solutions were available for content production. With H5P, this has changed.
H5P is a free and open source software for creating interactive (learning) content for the web. Already available content types are videos or presentations with embedded quiz tasks, timelines or a memory game. New content types can be developed by the user community and integrated into the project. The structures are designed accordingly. It is also possible to distribute content using an embed method, just as Youtube videos can be distributed using an embed code.
For the LMS Moodle or the CMS Drupal and the Wordpress Blog there was already a corresponding integration with H5P.
The integration into TYPO3 is the next logical step and clears the way for tens of thousands of installations. Especially universities in the DACH area use TYPO3 for university presences and for their public image, but also for numerous well-known companies.
PDV and Learntube have jointly created this integration and will publish it as open software in the TYPO3 repository. The next step will be to create links to other (TYPO3) systems to enable easy and convenient distribution. Furthermore, a system for protected content distribution via a domain lock is planned.
